Fitness expert Lisa Lynn says don’t believe the hype about weight loss. The truth is, diet is the most significant part of any weight loss program. Yes, she says exercise is important, too, but eating clean is the best way to get rid of that spare tire or muffin top that just won’t go away.

Lynn should know. Not only is she the author of “The Metabolism Solution,” (Xulon Press/April 2014), she’s spent three decades educating the public about health and fitness, specializing in metabolic weight loss and performance nutrition.

“Most of what we know about weight loss is a lie,” says Lynn. “It is possible to lose weight quickly and safely. The fitness industry wants you to believe it takes years and the supplement industry will convince you it takes a week; both financially motivated but essentially wrong.”

Lynn says eating well  is a must, especially after you hit 40.

“The scary truth is that food impacts 80 percent of your results, unless you’re over the  age of 40 and then it impacts it by 90 percent,” says Lynn. “Exercise only contributes 20 percent to the weight loss equation, unless again you’re over the age of 40 and then the gym is only going to help you by 10 percent.”
