It’s always about a week before Mercury turns retrograde (Rx) that strange things begin to happen. My cell phone battery fails to keep a charge. I double book on appointments (or appointments get pushed back). There’s always some kind of misunderstanding that needs a quick resolution. Then of course are the big surprises – a lost love returns or I begin to seek them out once nostalgia creeps in. As much as this astro-phenomenon brings a peculiar anxiety that is unavoidable, I can’t help but to become more aware of its inherent benefit.
Maybe it’s not such a bad idea to return to an old relationship that failed for the sake of closure and the balancing out of Karmic influences (of course, there are those relationships that are pretty cut and dry and don’t need to be revisited!). Maybe a delayed start is necessary so that we may further assess our plans, becoming even more prepared for when they really do take off. Negotiations have reached a standstill? I bet there’s a reason for that too. As one of my dear mentors once said, “Life is not a dress rehearsal;” we could all stand to learn to be comfortable with uncertainty.
I’ll admit that Mercury Rx can be a thorn in my side. But this is a transit that occurs at least three times a year, forcing us to sit tight just a little bit longer, and that’s OK. A more worthwhile approach to dealing with the inevitable lags, traffic jams, malfunctions and breakdowns during this time would be to see it all as a part of a Divine process that shouldn’t concern you. What happens in the meantime could very well lead to a few blessings in disguise.
