A high school track and field coach was arrested after having an alleged sexual relationship with a student and knowingly exposing the 16 year old male with the AIDS virus.

WLBT reports:

According to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office, the investigation was launched on Friday, May 9 after a complaint was lodged against Derrick Nesby, 37. Investigators were told that Nesby had participated in an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old male student.

Nesby, who is a New Orleans native, was employed at H.L. Bourgeois High School as a track coach. Detectives questioned Nesby. He denied all the allegations.

Detectives recently secured an arrest warrant and Nesby was taken into custody at the school. He was booked into the Terrebonne Parish Jail for carnal knowledge of a juvenile which is a felony. He is being held in lieu of a $500,000 bond.

Officials say Nesby’s employment at the school was terminated prior to his arrest.
