We wish we could say that we didn’t see this coming, but unfortunately we did. Harrison has been behaving more like Huck in his real life and former Scandal star Columbus Short, was recently put on notice by show producers regarding his extra curricular activities. They were mainly concerned about allegations regarding domestic abuse and recent run ins with the law over the last few months.
Short had the show standing by him publicly even if they may have been hindering on their support privately.
However, we guess the allegations his estranged wife made last week of him beating her and then threatening to kill both her and himself was too much for them to continue to ignore. That coupled with his disastrous performance during an interview on the Tom Joyner Morning Show this week in which he appeared to be impaired was probably the last straw for executive producer Shonda Rhimes.
According to TMZ, sources connected with ABC say Short won’t be returning to the hit show because the network decided to give him the axe over allegations of domestic violence.
Columbus just released this statement that said,
“At this time I must confirm my exit from a show I’ve called home for 3 years, with what is the most talented ensemble in television today.
Everything must come to an end and unfortunately the time has come for Harrison Wright to exit the canvas. I wish nothing but the best for Shonda, Kerry and the rest of the cast…”
We don’t know if the finale is the last we will see of Harrison on screen or not. Refresh your memory with the video below.
Still no official word from ABC or Scandal creators and to be honest we don’t expect to hear from them soon. They probably want to get as far away from Short and all of his real life “scandals” as they possibly can.
While the Harrison Wright character will be sincerely missed from the show…we honestly understand.
The moral of the story kids is this…be careful what you wish for.
This man went from being a Brittany Spears back up dancer to an actor speaking some of the most brilliant dialogue ever written for TV. He was on one of the most beloved drama series of our time and should have had those ends meeting like a mug! He by all accounts should have been on top of the world right now. But he was unhappy. And once again we see that the myth that money and fame can procure your happiness is simply untrue. Sometimes, it almost seems like people are happier during of the struggle of making it…than they are once they’ve actually “made it”.
Columbus Short has lost his job, his marriage, his kids and may possibly lose his freedom due to all of his recent probation violations and anger issues. Another promising career falls and may possibly become just another Hollywood statistic. Which scares us even more. Because if Short did all of these things recently with plenty to lose…what is he going to do with nothing left to lose?
There may not be any “fixing” to do here this time…hopefully there will be someone around him that wants to catch the falling star.
