Sheryl Sandberg, the COO of Facebook and founder of LeanIn.org, wrote a tribute to the singer, praising her for “[raising] her voice both on- and offstage to urge women to be independent and lead.” Sandberg writes, “In the past year, Beyoncé has sold out the Mrs. Carter Show World Tour while being a full-time mother. Her secret: hard work, honesty and authenticity. And her answer to the question, ‘What would you do if you weren’t afraid?’ appears to be ‘Watch me. I’m about to do it.’ Then she adds, ‘You can, too.’”

Other nominees on the Time 100 list include singer/producer Pharrell Williams, “Scandal” star and mom-to-be Kerry Washington, Benedict Cumberbatch, “Late Night’s” Seth Meyers, Oscar nominee Amy Adams, Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey and pop star Miley Cyrus.

Jason Collins, the NBA’s first openly gay athlete, made the list as well, with a tribute written by Chelsea Clinton. The former First Daughter and mom-to-be calls her fellow Stanford alum “a leader and an inspiration,” lauding him for maintaining, above all else, a sense of “integrity.”
Pope Francis makes the list, too, with fellow honoree President Barack Obama praising His Holiness for “his message of love and inclusion” and having “inspired us all” by example.

The Time 100 list of influential people issue hits stands this Friday.

I swear by the “White’s God”, you people are a ase of NUTS. If she did drop out, is it considered a failure that she has found her waay through music and entertainment and make a million times ten more than you. I am so sick of you racist bastards. Ponder that!

sharongarfield WE ar not haters but if she did drop out of high school maybe she should go back and get that piece of paper. We would not accept that from any family member then why is it accepatble for entertainers? You’re right, we are not obligated to by the magazine..

only trash get put on the magazine covers these days. I wonder if I should be surprised those conservatives would finally actually be brazen enough to do this.

First it was Vogue Magazine, now it’s Time Magazine! beyonce??????? When will this society STOP celebrating these watered down so call celebrities. This hoochie-coochie slut tramp should NOT be on the cover of a magazine such as Time. She is a high school drop out, who talks as if she has a fourth grade education!!!!! Time WHY???????? This society is truly going in the wrong direction. Are you just trying to get more subscriptions Time????? You’ll never recover from having this ‘porn star light’ seductress on your cover!!! Whoever made this decision, should be FIRED right away! What’s next Lil Wayne on the cover of Newsweek Magazine??????? This is a Travesty!!!!!!!!!

I will no longer support today’s young buck society! No more of you!!! She don’t have respect for her own daughter! She’s all about the money and if it wasn’t for the youth, she wouldn’t be shit today!

    • No the Travesty is people who are ALWAYS judging others! Apparently you must secretly like or follow Beyonce’. You yourself stated that she was on Vogue and now the cover of Time Magazine. Obviously she’s not that WATERED down since she was able to grace the cover of such prestigious magazines that YOU subscribe to. You even mentioned that she dropped out of high school and if that’s true, then she should be commended (not for dropping out) but for her tenacity to move forward and succeed in life. So what she may not have the dialogue of “the Queen of England”, but she’s doing well for herself. Grow Up and STOP HATING!!! You’re entitled to your opinion, but everyone doesn’t agree with you and if you don’t like the issue of you current magazine, UNSUBSCIBE!

It’s truly uninformed, unintelligent, unteachable people like you, who keep a very Large majority of the black community at a sub human level!!!!! Why don’t you try raising your obviously Ghetto standards up a little bit. And STOP accepting any and everything that the media throws at you. I know it probably hurts, but try thinking for yourself!

You Nailed It….We need to raise the bar/standards not lower them. It’s not hate or judging, it’s about self respect.

Just like I said before, you need to grow up! Is the best that you can do is hurl insults (Ghetto Standards)?? You have no idea where I’m from or what my status is. You say I’m unteachable, but if you’re suggesting that I can learn anything from YOU (other than to criticize, belittle, and bad mouth people), then you’re more ignorant than you sound. Now let’s talk about who’s uninformed. Um….that would be YOU. Beyonce’ was home schooled and graduated when she was 18. I wasn’t even going to bring that up, but because you’re throwing out racist jargon, I suppose it was only right to let you know that you were misinformed. As far as the media goes, I’m not the one buying all of those magazines and then complaining about what’s in them. I don’t just blurt out things without first looking into it, so now who’s Ghetto?

Sharon, I really don’t give a damn about your uneducated, uniformed response. And yes I stand by what I said earlier, you are unteachable and very Ghetto!!!!!!!!
