Woodtv.com in Detroit reports that the body of missing Kalamazoo, Michigan doctor Teleka Patrick may have been found in a lake in Indiana on Sunday.
A body was found in Lake Charles on Sunday morning. Police have yet to identify the body officially, but Patrick’s mother says that it was her daughter’s body.
Another family member says that they hadn’t received confirmation yet.
“Our family was informed that a body was found that may be our daughter Teleka Patrick. We are waiting for official confirmation from the Kalamazoo Sheriff’s Department and have no comment at this time. Thank you for your continued prayers-we ask that you respect our privacy at this difficult time,” the family member said.
Patrick is the doctor who disappeared after trying to check into a hotel near where she lived in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She has not been seen since the hotel shuttle dropped her off at the hospital parking lot where she worked in December of last year. Her car with credit cards and ID inside was found in a ditch nearby with flat tire. It came out after her disappearance that that Pastor Marvin Sapp had been granted a personal order of protection against Patrick after the widowed pastor and singer received texts, emails and even a visit from Patrick. In a letter from his church, Lighthouse Full Life Center, Patrick was informed her membership was revoked because of the inappropriate communications.
On the night she disappeared, it is believed Patrick was on her way to meet a male friend. While it is not yet known if any foul play took place, neither man is considered a suspect in Patrick’s disappearance, investigators have said.
