According to WCVB, Love & Hip Hop Atlanta star Benzino’s 36-year-old nephew, Gai Scott has been charged with his shooting earlier today.
Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz said in a statement,
“There has been growing family tension between Raymond Scott (Benzino) and Gai Scott. The two were heading toward St. Peter’s Church in Plymouth for the funeral of Raymond Scott’s mother. At some point when the cars were side by side, Gai Scott fired several shots into the red Dodge SUV being driven by Raymond Scott.
Raymond Scott got out of his SUV and was taken to the Duxbury Police station by a passerby and then to a local hospital. There was no immediate word on his condition. Gai Scott was arrested by Plymouth police and charged with assault with intent to murder.”
Gai Scott will be arraigned Monday in Plymouth District Court.
Boston Globe is also reporting that Father William Williams of St. Peter’s Church in Plymouth, where the funeral procession was headed from Quincy, said that the family arrived at the church late but that the funeral was held.
Allegedly when Father Williams looked out of the church to see the funeral procession arrive he saw blood smudges on the limousine and the hearse. Said Father Williams,
“The family was upset but did not speak about the shooting.”
There is no word yet from Benzino’s camp, VH1 or Mona Scott Young but some pictures have been posted of Benzino in the hospital by Love & Hip Hop Atlanta Co-star Shay on Instagram.
