Breaking news for all those without healthcare: the Obama administration is giving you more time to enroll in Obamacare.
According to federal officials, the March 31 deadline is extending to mid-April. However, this is only for applicants start the enrollment process on HealthCare.gov but fail to finish by the end of the month.
“Under the new rules, people will be able to qualify for an extension by checking a blue box on HealthCare.gov to indicate that they tried to enroll before the deadline,” the Washington Post reports. “This method will rely on an honor system; the government will not try to determine whether the person is telling the truth.”
Sources say the change “is supported by consumer advocates who want as many people as possible to gain insurance under the 2010 Affordable Care Act.”
