Idris Elba is doing his part to give others a big break.
The actor has teamed with Samsung as a mentor for the company’s online talent competition.
Potential competitors that were invited had until March 6 to apply for the competition via Facebook with a two-minute film that highlighed their particular project.
Since the competition launched on Feb. 3, more than 600 people have downloaded the app. The music category has emerged as the most popular, with performers already attracting garnering support for their videos.
Each mentor will select the final four participants, who will be featured in a television series that will air on UK TV in spring 2014.
Fans of the completion can vote for the “People’s Choice” winner per category on Facebook. Winners will receive personal tuition and Samsung products that will support them in pursuing their dreams.
