Fans of BET’s “The Game” wondered what happened to Brittnay Daniel after her role as “Kelly Pitts” was reduces, and the actress just made a shocking revelation: three years ago she was battling cancer.

“It happened so suddenly,” she told People magazine in its latest issue. Daniel, 38, said she she was preparing for another season of the hit show during the summer of 2011 when she started having night sweats, excruciating back pain and flu-like symptoms. After a visit to the the doctor, she was officially diagnosed with stage IV non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

The good news is she immediately started chemotherapy and after a long fight, she’s currently healthy and cancer-free. The actress credits her family, including her twin sister Cynthia who she stared with in the 1994 series “Sweet Valley High,” for helping her bounce back.  ”I feel like there is is no way I would have ever gotten through this without my family,” said Daniel. ”My family is everything to me and I feel like they saw me through this.”

While the actress said she almost kept the news private, she decided to share her story to help others in a similar situation.  ”I want to let people know it is absolutely possible to get through something like this,” she said. “I want people to know they are not alone.”
