D.L. Hughley took time on his show to honor Cayden Taipalus, an 8-year-old boy who’s raised over $27K to help his fellow students enjoy a hot lunch in the cafeteria.

When a fellow student at Challenger Elementary School in Michigan received a sandwich instead of a hot meal, because he didn’t have enough money his school account for a hot meal, Cayden, who is a third-grader, launched a fundraising campaign called Pay It Forward: No Kid Goes Hungry to help pay for lunches for students who don’t have enough money in their accounts.

Cayden’s mother, Amber Melke-Peters, said that in addition to paying off balances, her son is adding extra money to each account to help prevent future negative balances.
