On Instagram’s Woman Crush Wednesday, Dwyane Wade had his lady on his mind. His wife-to-be, Gabrielle Union, was featured on his page and he shouted her out with some sentimental words, acknowledging that his “lovechild” almost cost him their relationship. The Miami Heat All-Star, 32, wrote this note to Union, 42.

“My #WCW my #beautifulblackqueen… My Life mistakes gave me you and my life mistakes almost made me lose you but your love has conquered all and I hope to spend the rest of my life with you…”

Wade and Union are engaged. He revealed earlier this year that he had a newborn son, Xavier Zechariah, on November 10 last year. At a Miami Heat press conference in December, Wade confirmed the birth.

“I had a time, a part in our break, in our pain and our hurt, a blessing came out of it in my life, having a son that was born healthy,” Wade said. “So I’m moving on.”

The author of the book Father First: How My Life Became Bigger than Basketball which detailed his contentious divorce from high school sweetheart Siobvaughn Funches and his subsequently winning primary custody or their two sons, Zaire and Zion, said also that:

“I will always focus on what’s most important to me and my family, and that’s being a great father. I’ve always tried to show my importance in my kids’ lives and it doesn’t change now.”

On her part, Union told Queen Latifah on her daytime talk show that after Wade asked for another chance, they were able to work through the betrayal and told critics on Twitter that they should focus on their own issues instead of judging her decisions.

Union’s popular BET show Being Mary Jane debuted to strong ratings and will be back for a second season, though BET has yet to announce a return date.
