Single Ladies” has gotten the boot from VH1.

The ATL set and produced series from Queen Latifah‘s Flavor Unit will end its run after three seasons.

As of now, the season 3 finale is scheduled to air on March 24.

“We’ve been proud to deliver three seasons of the drama, romance and style that engaged viewers in each episode of Single Ladies,” VH1 said in a statement. “Although we’ve decided not to move forward with another season, we hope to work again with the talented cast,  vc creatives and producers as well as our partners at Flavor Unit Entertainment in the near future. We also thank the show’s fans for their support since the premiere in 2011.”

OK, but we’re at a loss as to WHY the show, which has been delivering good, competitive ratings, is being sent to the showers, so to speak. Anyway, more about that shortly.

It’s interesting to note that “Single Ladies,” which stated off as a made for TV movie, went on to success as a series and opened the door to “Hit The Floor,” which became a breakout hit when it launched.

However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing for the show. There was the firing of Stacey Dash and then, right after it was renewed for a 3rd season, in August 2012, creator/executive producer Stacy A. Littlejohn left. Fans had to waith a full year and a half for season 3 to launch this past January and now this.

The show’s cancellation is a collective head scratcher because as we alluded to earlier, it’s doing quite well as far as the numbers go. And isn’t that the bottom line? Its season 3 opener brought in 2.6 million viewers. According to Deadline, the premiere airing and its same night encore combined, “Single Ladies” grew each seasons:, posting 2.9 for the season premiere, 3.2 million for the Season 2 opener and 3.5 million for Season 3.

Truth B Told….it appears to me they want the raunchy shows with black women calling each other names and fighing, such as Basketball wives and Love and Hip Hop, a show with black women abd men with power, fashion, a bit of drama, romance, with celebrity appearances, is just too positive for TV but they will not cancel Basketball wives. LeToya Luckett is a very very good actress, but she proved that a long time ago when she did “a preacher’s kid.” Shame on VH1!!! I think the Queen Latifah should shop this show to the Oprah network and give Oprah the business or TV1 or BET- There’s more than 1 way to skin a cat.- #enough said-

  2. I’m looking for real shows with good story line. All these reality TV shows is not getting it. VH1 is messing up a good lineup.

This is/was a horrible show, especially the acting. If it wasn’t on VH1 it would have been cancelled after the first season.

I’m a bit disappointed that Single Ladies has been cancelled! Single Ladies isn’t the best, but it’s certainly NOT the worst!!! LeToya Luckett was KILLING IT as Felicia Price, so it’s a shame I won’t be seeing more of her (or the possibility of a romance between Raquel & Terrence)!!!

Just because someone is in a high-paying job doesn’t mean that they’re smart or even make good choices, because this could be one of the dumbest things they could have done, Cancel a show with good ratings, hopefully tvone, or BET could pick it up.
