Hoodies will be raised at rallies across the country today as communities gather to recognize A Day of Outrage and Remembrance for Trayvon Matin and Jordan Davis.

Organized by the Stop Mass Incarceration Network, the national event marks the second anniversary of the killing of Trayvon Martin and comes eleven days after the mistrial of Michael Dunn, the Florida man who hot and killed 17-year-old Jordan Davis in 2012.

“Put on a Hoodie for Trayvon, hold a target [printed here] with the message of ‘No More’ for Jordan and all the Black and Latino youth who this system views as suspects,” reads the event description.

“Defiantly represent that we refuse to accept a target being put on the back of every Black youth in this country, we refuse to accept the declaration that Black people have no rights that white people are bound to respect.”

Hundreds of supporters are expected to participate in these national marches.

In New York City, gatherings are scheduled to take place throughout the day in Harlem and throughout Manhattan, including Times Square and the historic 125th street. Marches, rallies and vigils have also been schedule to occur in Los Angeles, Oakland, Jacksonville, Atlanta, Dallas, Chicago, Cleveland and other cities.

Participants are invited to photograph themselves while at the events and share the images at the Stop Mass Incarceration Network Facebook page.

“This action can break the paralysis by being the first national action against the mistrial of the murderer of young Jordan Davis and linking this outrage to the fight for justice for Trayvon,” Stop Mass Incarceration Network said in a statement.

“Be a part of puncturing the lie that there is nothing we can do—that we must accept this nightmare.”
