Oprah Winfrey, known for giving away hordes of money to multiple humanitarian causes, has now reportedly added her long-lost half-sister, Patricia Lofton, to the mix by purchasing a $490,000 home in Wisconsin for her, according to People Magazine.
Winfrey had Lofton appear on her 2011 network talk show after first learning of her existence just one year before. The pair share the same mother, Vernita Lee. When Lofton appeared on Winfrey’s show, the mogul told her audience that meeting her half sibling was “one of the greatest surprises of my life.”
The 60-year-old chat show queen allegedly not only splurged for a house for Lofton but has also financed her education, People Magazine states.
Lofton, who is nine years younger than Winfrey, had aspirations of continuing her education to become a social worker. An unnamed Winfrey spokesperson told People that the billionaire wants to help her sister realize her goal: “Oprah wants to support that dream.”
