Potential Spring of 2014 first round NFL Draft Pick Michael Sam did something unprecedented today…he came out. In a brave move Sam revealed what his team already knew to the New York Times and in essence to the world.

Sam, a 6-foot-2, 260-pound senior, who finished his career at Missouri with an impeccable season (which found his team winning the Cotton Bowl) was named a First-Team All-American. He was also the Defensive Player Of The Year in the Southeastern Conference, which is notoriously thought to be the top league in college football. And as if that wasn’t enough his teammates voted him Missouri’s Most Valuable Player!

So to be clear…Michael Sam can play football! So we hope this announcement will not hinder a darn thing for his future in the NFL.

Take a look at the video of his announcement below.

We wish Michael the very best and salute his bravery! We’re sure amazing things are in store for him this Spring!
