Kevin Hart may have to change his name to Box Office Killah, given his recent movie success. First there was the #1 box office and big response to Ride Along, his buddy movie with Ice Cube and this Friday, well placed for Valentine’s Day, he and Regina Hall and Michael Ealy star in About Last Night an all-Black remake of the 1986 movie. Hart says his success has freed him, literally.

“I’ve decided not to wear pants or a shirt after 3 p.m.,” he told the Tom Joyner Morning Show. “All of Black History Month, I’m going with no bottom. I’ve got sneaks on with socks that come right to about my lower calf. That’s how I’m rolling around. When my kids come around, I just hold some plates to myself, not to mess them up, and by the time they come home from school, I’m dressed.”

Hart has earned the right to whatever eccentricities he wants after starring in Think Like a Man which earned $90 million at the box office, creating The Real Husbands of Hollywood for BET (and getting Nick Cannon, Bobby Brown, Duane Martin, Robin Thicke and Nelly to star on it) taking Ride Along to #1 and now, starring in About Last Night. That doesn’t even count his standup comedy specials, including Laugh At My Pain and Let Me Explain.

Not bad for a short kid from North Philly. Hart is getting some props already – at least from Tom Joyner and Sybil Wilkes – for his acting skills in About Last Night.

“This is my best work to date. I’m going to go on record saying that. Ride Along was a great movie; Ride Along was funny. But nobody has seen me like they’ll see me in About Last Night. I’m a grown man in this movie. I’m having sex. (Laughs). I’m doing grown man stuff. I’m showing emotions. I’ve got levels. Me and Regina Hall have great chemistry. The movie does a great job of dealing with relationships and doing it in a modern way. It’s not just a chick flick. Anybody can go see it.” (Except for kids, Hart says, although he adds ‘depending on what’s going on in your household.’)

“Honestly, Regina steals the movie. She does a great job. Even with the improvs. It was never me waiting for her or having to adjust for her. She kept up with me and sometimes surpassed me. I really can’t wait for people to see this movie. I think people will walk away shocked about what this movie really is.”

About Last Night opens Friday, Valentine’s Day so get your tickets early.
