An eighth grade English teacher in South Florida has been suspended for using lyrics to a Lil Wayne song in a homework assignment she gave to her students.

According to WPTV, the teacher, who works at The Charter Schools of Boynton Beach, had “an unblemished record” prior to being suspended for three days for assigning students to underline examples of figurative language in Lil Wayne’s hit song, “6 Foot 7 Foot.”

Lyrics from the Cory Gunz-featured track include the following:

Two b*tches at the same time, synchronized swimmers

Got the girl twisted cause she open when you twist her

Never met the bi*ch, but I f*ck her like I missed her

Life is the b*tch, and death is her sister

Sleep is the cousin, what a f*ckin’ family picture

Despite the teacher’s intent with the assignment, the inclusion of Lil Wayne’s lyrics struck a nerve. The Charter Schools of Boynton Beach headmaster, Wayne Owens, voiced the school’s regret over the choice of song for the assignment as he addressed the situation via a statement.

“The lesson was for students to learn to identify literary devices,” Owens stated. “The teacher had already introduced Edgar Allen Poe and Shakespeare. Students were having difficulty grasping the concepts of literary devices such as: pun, simile, metaphor, so the teacher used colloquial material. This material did not meet the school’s standards and was not approved. The teacher recognizes that it was totally inappropriate for a school assignment.”

“This is crazy,” Vanessa Guzman, a disapproving parent, expressed to WPTV. “They shouldn’t be giving this to kids in school…I’m uncomfortable reading any of this…They shouldn’t be teaching this stuff in school for language arts. I mean, who in their right mind would give kids something like this?”
