The Giant store is facing scrutiny after they published an advertisement welcoming students from the HBCU Howard University with a white woman as the featured image.

According to USA Today, 87% of Howard’s undergraduate and graduate population are black. Less than 1% of the student population consists of white students.

The ad was placed in Giant’s circular to promote the new store near Howard’s campus. It was  only published in the circular for that location.

Howard University has not commented on the image.

What do you think of it?

  1. Really?! If this was a white school with the same percentage, would we be talking about this at all if they used a black girl, I think not. There are far more important things in the world other than who is greeting students back to school.

Kevin, thanks for your post, you are spot on. BAW posts these ridiculous non-news stories because they know they will get a rise out of a few feeble minded folks. I recall one time that Debbie wanted to boycott all retailers on Christams in 1998 when it snowed, because they were excited for a “White” Christmas. Feeble minds.

  2. I think we as black people should speak out!!! I probably would not support the supermarket. I see so many advertisements that black people should be in that white folks are in. I hate this racist ass society!!! If I was the students at that Giant store, I WOULD NOT shop there no matter how close it is.

Kay don’t feel bad at all. My post was tongue and cheek. It’s obviously a canned ad run by Giant that they put XXXX college name here, in papers all over the country. Nobody at the Giant ad department said let me stick it to the blacks of Howard U by using a White girl on their ad. Only haters like Debbie actually get reeled in by BAW’s race baiting on trivial, inconsequential, petty things like this every day.
