Gabrielle Union says step-motherhood isn’t all glitz and glam but she loves every minute of it.

During a recent visit on the “Queen Latifah Show,” the bride-to-be said her transition from single woman to stepmother has “been a journey.”

“It’s been a journey to boogers and flashcards and first heartbreaks and school dances and math homework,” she said of raising fiance Dwyane Wade’s two sons and nephew. “We got this amazing gift at a second chance. He just asked me to commit to trying, to put our family back together, to make our family whole. The trying to do the work, led to doing the work, led to us thriving because of the work, which led to this amazing proposal where my family literally asked me to marry them.”

“When life gives you a new beginning,” she added, “you take it and run with it.”

Even though Wade fathered a third son during a temporary split, the “Being Mary Jane” star said she is happy and her life is “on cloud nine right now.”

“I’m on cloud nine. I mean, the support that I’ve gotten, for me personally, for the show, it’s been overwhelming,” she gushed. “I’m just happy!”

The NBA champion, who’s been dating Gabby since 2009, popped the big question with an 8.5 carat diamond ring a few days before Christmas.
