  • ATLANTA (AP) — A man who pleaded guilty to slapping a crying toddler on a U.S. flight has been sentenced to eight months in federal prison.

    Joe-Hundley

Joe Rickey Hundley was sentenced Monday. He pleaded guilty in October after reaching a plea agreement with prosecutors.

Prosecutors say Hundley used a racial slur to refer to the 19-month-old boy, who is black, and hit him under the eye as the flight descended to the Atlanta airport in February.

Prosecutors had recommended six months in prison. The judge said he imposed a higher sentence in part because of Hundley’s criminal history, which includes a prior assault.

Hundley’s lawyer objected to the deviation from the recommendation in the plea agreement and said after the hearing that she believes the sentence is disproportionate.

    1. Rather than sit here and click about what i would do to this old person(not man),I’m going to question this place we call( The Home of The Brave) America. In New York injuring someone intentionally 65 or older is a class D Felony when the attacker is at least 10 years younger than the victim. This old person attacked a baby.(do the math) What is wrong with this picture? This is the laws we teach our kids to respect.Wake up people ,especially Black people.

    2. The mother did well. It would have taken all of heaven not to beat his old behind in a coma.

Jiggy, talk to your paw paw. Tell him to stick to being an internet gangster, like you.

    3. That baby is completely defenseless and innocent, and the defense atty thought the punishment was disproportionate? And I guess what he did made perfect sense…they better keep him in protective custody because they will treat him like any other child predator in prison. I try really hard to understand the lack of common sense and decency in most adults these days, easier said than done…..
