PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A Philadelphia teenager is accused of posting nonpublic information about a 2012 shooting on his Twitter feed.
The information wound up on an Instagram account that is also facing scrutiny for divulging information about crime witnesses.
A police spokeswoman said Wednesday the 17-year-old was taken into custody and charged with witness intimidation and terrorist threats.
The intimidation and terroristic threat charges Tuesday comes as investigators examine how a now-shuttered Instagram account titled “rats215,” a reference to Philadelphia’s area code, came to feature affidavits and photos of victims and witnesses in criminal cases.
Police are investigating if there is a connection between the two separate social media accounts.
