HOUSTON (AP) — Court documents indicate a deadly shooting at a house party in suburban Houston that left two teenagers dead and 19 hurt might not have started as a result of celebratory gunfire.

Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia had said Saturday’s shooting began when someone fired a pistol in the air in celebration and someone else began firing into the crowd.

But probable cause affidavits for two suspects who were arrested Monday — 21-year-old Willie Young and 18-year-old Randy Stewart — present a different scenario.

The affidavits say two individuals at the party told investigators Young and Stewart began firing at them before shooting into the crowd.

Sheriff’s office officials did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

Young is charged with deadly conduct while Stewart is charged with aggravated assault.
