JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – Jackson Police have found a wallet and other items linked to three members of a Jackson-area family reported missing after a car crash.

WLBT reports police found the items in a Dumpster at a Shell gas station in south Jackson just before noon Monday.

Copiah County Sheriff Harold Jones told WJTV that a car crashed near the town of Carpenter off Shelby Road on Saturday. Three people – 30-year-old Atira Hughes Smith, her 7-year-old son Jaidon Hill and her husband 34-year-old Laterry Smith – were reported missing.

Police also searched the home of Laterry Smith’s mother, which is not far from where the items were found. A neighbor says the mother and Smith’s sisters moved out of the home Sunday night.
