A North Carolina barbershop owner and a friend are facing federal charges over 800 pounds of marijuana.

WSOC TV reports:

Federal documents about the undercover sting were unsealed this week. Drug enforcement agents said they received a tip that 800 pounds of marijuana seized in El Paso, Texas were headed to Charlotte in September, according to the documents.

Investigators had the 16-bale shipment sent to Charlotte to use in an operation to catch whoever had plans to sell it. Court records show undercover agents worked out a deal to pick up Raymond Boyd’s car at a Wal-Mart on North Tryon Street to transfer the drug.

Once investigators picked up the car, they took it to another location to load up the 16 bales of marijuana.

Kareem Gray and Boyd then picked up the car and brought it to Gray’s apartment on Pike Road, according to court documents.

Just as Gray and Boyd were unloading the drug at an apartment garage, agents moved in and arrested them, according to court records.

No word on when the trial will begin.
