Director Spike Lee has officially passed the $1 million mark on the Kickstarter campaign for his upcoming independent film.
Lee set his goal for the campaign at $1.25 million and he is almost at the finish line. The campaign has garnered support from over 5,000 people, with four of the donors giving $10,000.
Incentives from the campaign include tickets from the New York Knicks and spending a day with Lee on the set.
Although not much info has been released around the film, the director says it will center around “humans addicted to blood.”
Many critics believe that he is taking funding from other filmmakers who are in greater need of it.
“Their agenda blew up in their face,” Lee said of those in opposition of his Kickstarter campaign.
“I’ve been doing Kickstarter since before there was a Kickstarter.”
