This Friday, Morris Chestnut will make his superhero movie debut as Sergeant Marcus Williams in Kick-Ass 2. The versatile actor plays a detective and foster parent to Hit Girl, a 14-year-old heroine played by Chloe Grace Moretz.
The 44-year-old Hollywood star plays a good guy in the Jeff Wadlow-directed film, but dished about his secret urge to “kick some ass” during a recent press junket.
“In a movie like Kick-Ass, you kind of want to kick some ass!” he revealed. “But when I got to the set I couldn’t have an fun. I did driving. I did boring stuff.”
Although he wasn’t able to perform any high-action stunts, Chestnut said it was an honor to be involved in the project.
“I saw the first one as well and it was just a lot of fun and I said, ‘Wow, I just want to be a part of that,’” he told Blacktree TV. “It was just an honor to be involved in it.”
“I have a daughter who is her age so it’s really easy for me to relate,” he added. “I am very similar to Marcus. Luckily, my daughter is not similar to [Hit Girl]…She’s an angel. She doesn’t do anything wrong as far as I know.”
