Hollywood husband-and-wife duo Robin Thicke and Paula Patton are both on top of their game right now. Along with raising their 3-year-old son Julian, Paula is the star of new action comedy 2 Guns alongside Denzel Washington and Robin is dominating the pop and r&b charts with his megabit “Blurred Lines.”
Both of the lovebirds were on separate press tours this week and they had no problem dishing out funny and intimate details about their relationship. Check out five new things we learned about the Thickes here!
1. Paula wouldn’t take Robin to her senior prom.
“The funny thing is, in high school she didn’t take me to prom because she didn’t want everyone to know she was with a white dude because she was president of the Black Student Union,” the r&b singer reveled during an interview with Howard Stern. :I was a secret. She didn’t want to show up with a white guy. Funny right?”
2. Robin’s single “Blurred Lines” featuring T.I. and Pharrell makes Paula hot!
“I love that song. I don’t know what it is, it just makes you want to dance and party and groove,” she said during a recent appearance on “Chelsea Lately.” “I watched that video. I was a little bit jealous, then I wanted to jump his bones. I was like, ‘I want to take you down right now.’ That’s how I know it’s a hit!”
3. Robin uses his father as inspiration to be a great husband.
“I think subliminally, [because] my dad was so good at everything – He was very charming, he was very beloved. he was getting all the chicks – but yet he wasn’t very good at marriage. So, the one thing I said to myself [that I knew I could] beat my dad at, I’ll beat him at a relationship. I’ll make my relationship last longer than he did, and that will be the one thing in my life that I did than my pops.”
4.They fight about everything!
“Oh man! Everything,” Robin said of what he and his wife with about. “When you have money problems. Sometimes money can just get rid of a lot of problems, you don’t have to worry about the mortgage or the taxes or the bills that are coming. That gives you a chance to focus on being together, but when you are always worried about how you’re going to make that next payment and all those things, it’s hard to just focus on the love part.”
5. They met and teenagers.
“We were 14. We dated for a little bit, then we broke up, and then we got back together,” Robin said of when he met his wife. “Its been like 20 years.”
