There is also a partisan tinge to the public views. Among whites, 70 percent of Republicans but only 30 percent of Democrats say they approve of the verdict.

Wildly different views on the roles of race in the criminal justice system  – from both Blacks and Whites – is said to be the reason for the disparity.

Fully 86 percent of African Americans say blacks and other minorities do not get equal treatment under the law; the number of whites saying so is less than half as large, 41 percent. A majority of whites, 54 percent, say there is equal treatment for minority groups.  Some 60 percent of Hispanics say blacks and other minorities do not receive equal treatment with whites in the criminal justice system, and by a two-to-one ratio, they disapprove of the verdict in the Zimmerman trial.

  1. Hello, My Brothers-and-Sisters. My response to the “not guilty verdict isfor GZ is the same as yours—-”unbelivable!” These people have lost their minds! It’s OK for a Black teenage male to be walking along minding his own business to be killed by a racist murderer??? We are not stupid! Brothers-and-Sisters, please stay strong and do NOT give in to ANYONE who says this is OK.—-It’s not!. And just to let you know how much the racists hate us Black folk in America, here are the 2011 Hate Crime Statistics from the Department of Justice website:

These stats tell us Black folk that we are the ones who should be wary of whites,

    Racial bias

In 2011, law enforcement agencies reported that 3,465 single-bias hate crime offenses were racially motivated. Of these offenses:
■72.0 percent were motivated by anti-black bias.
■16.7 percent stemmed from anti-white bias.
■4.8 percent resulted from anti-Asian/Pacific Islander bias.
■4.7 percent were a result of bias against groups of individuals consisting of more than one race (anti-multiple races, group).
■1.9 percent were motivated by anti-American Indian/Alaskan Native bias. (Based on

  2. Does this poll even surprise anyone!? Gee, I hope not becuause this is, and always has been where it begins and ends where racism is concerned. If I had one dollar for each time one of my caucasian friends asked me ” Is it really that bad?” each time the issue of race came up, I would be wealthy. They simply do not get it ( most of them dont anyway) which is in part, why this verdict came down the way that it did in the first place. When you dont get something, you just dont get it. And quite frankly, the privelege they receive almost makes it advantageous for them to not want to know it. It is far easier to simply believe you are superior than to have to take a deep look inside onself. Is it really thaaat bad! ? Yes, that is funny, but also tragic at the same time.
