Kerry Washington says she’s the “luckiest broad in showbiz” and we can agree!
Not only did the 36-year-old actress marry the love of her life last month, but she recently received her first Emmy nomination for her breakout role as Olivia Pope in ABC’s “Scandal.”
And if that’s not enough good news to celebrate, the Associated Press reports that if Washington takes home the award for best lead actress in a drama, she will be the first Black actress to do so!
“I just feel really blessed and humbled and grateful for this nomination,” the Hollywood starlet told PEOPLE.
She went on to say that she found out about the exciting news in the airport. “I had my dog with me and I was trying to get water for the plane in that hurried, crazy airport mode,” she said. “I’m going to celebrate with my “Scandal” family after we have our table read today.”
