  • FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) — Fairfax County Police are investigating as a possible hate crime an attack in which a 12-year-old boy running a lemonade stand was hit with an apparent urine-filled balloon by a costumed attacker.

Police spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell said Thursday that the incident occurred July 6 on Monument Drive in Fairfax. The boy’s father told police that his son had been operating a lemonade stand outside an apartment complex when a man came out of one of the buildings, threw the balloon at the boy and fled.

The Washington Post reported (http://wapo.st/152kMkO) that, according to a search warrant affidavit, the man was wearing a full body leotard that concealed his identity. The affidavit states that the costumed man yelled at the boy, “Go back to Africa.”

    No arrests have been made.

    1. @jhuff What is ur point? How is that relevant? This is a child selling lemonade we’re talking about. Maybe if the man had thrown pee on either of those people you mentioned, it wouldn’t be so bad. But this was a child being productive that was assaulted. Have a seat, please.

    2. White jogger in MS abducted by black teens and beaten up, Atlanta black teens shoot White infant
in crib, Boston Hispanic man beaten up by blacks. Sounds like HATE CRIMES to me

    3. You mean black child, Associated Press. I’ve never met a 12-year-old teenager. Anyway, if the man came out of one of the buildings, his identity should be narrowed down. They can figure out who it is.

Parents need to watch their children more closely. No way that man should have been able to get that close to that child without repercussion.
