ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP)— The doctor of a Michigan county judge accused of misconduct says he suffers from a mental condition that led to abnormal, overly confident public statements.

Dr. David Jacobi testified Tuesday that he diagnosed Wayne County Judge Wade McCree last year with a condition called “hypomania.” The diagnosis came after McCree sent a shirtless photo of himself to a courthouse employee and told a reporter, “No shame in my game.”

McCree is undergoing a hearing in Ann Arbor stemming from a different matter that will help determine whether he keeps his job. The Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission says he acted irresponsibly when he had an affair with a woman while presiding over a case against the father of her child.

McCree testified last week he should have transferred the case immediately.
