Hello Mr. Joyner:
My name is Gwendolyn Washington and i would like to request a Christmas Wish for my husband, brennan. After a successful career in information technology, Brennan has been heavily involved in helping to build local food systems in Georgia. Our farm, Phoenix Gardens has been recognized as a shining example of urban agriculture.
My husband is passionate about developing new and beginning farmers, especially those of color. A graduate of southern university’s small farm leadership institute, Brennan believes that it is extremely important for local food systems to thrive and flourish and he gives all of himself to make this happen.
Over the past 3 years, my husband has had to deal with some serious health issues. First he was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis and then he had to have some major spinal surgery, which caused us to lose an entire growing season.
Tom, Brennan was recently asked to head up the farmer mentoring program for Georgia organics and is helping develop a program to introduce young African American girls to farming.
My Christmas Wish is for my husband to be able to buy some new garden equipment such as a mower, a rotary tiller, new shovels, garden hoses and a wheel hoe. Recovering from our financial setbacks has made money tight and Brennan has kept things going through willpower and a lot of duct tape.
Granting this Christmas wish will help this farmer very much.
