  • In the words of commentator Bomani Jones, “call [Charles Ramsey] what you want, but call him what he is, too”; a hero.

    Ramsey, who is responsible for freeing Amanda Berry and two other women who were being held captive at his neighbor’s home, joined CNN’s Anderson Cooper to re-tell the events of that heroic evening which led to the freedom of Berry, 27, Michelle Knight, 32, and DeJesus, who is about 23.

    A dishwasher, Ramsey says he is not a hero, telling Cooper that he just had to  “do the right thing.” Adding,  “Bro, I’m a Christian, an American, and just like you. We bleed same blood, put our pants on the same way. It’s just that you got to put that — being a coward, and I don’t want to get in nobody’s business. You got to put that away for a minute. “

    He also says that any reward money should not be given to him, but to the three women who had lost so many years of their lives being held captive, saying, “I tell you what you do, give it to them… you know I got a job anyway” before pulling out his paycheck that he just picked up.

    Do you think Ramsey is a hero? What should he get for a reward?

    1. Great to hear that man speak in such a Christian way. He makes me feel good. The world needs people with a christian hearts like Charles Ramsey to mind one another and bring peace and goodness.

        • DON’T BE FOOLISH!

          Why do we blame God for human wickedness? We are free agents, God is not a puppeteer.

          Psalm 14

          1 The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.”
          They are corrupt, they have committed abominable deeds;
          There is no one who does good.

          2 The LORD has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men
          To see if there are any who understand,
          Who seek after God.

          3 They have all turned aside, together they have become corrupt;
          There is no one who does good, not even one.

          4 Do all the workers of wickedness not know,
          Who eat up my people as they eat bread,
          And do not call upon the Lord?

          5 There they are in great dread,
          For God is with the righteous generation.

          6 You would put to shame the counsel of the afflicted,
          But the LORD is his refuge.

          Malachi 3:13

          13“Your words have been arrogant against Me,” says the LORD. “Yet you say, ‘What have we spoken against You?’14“You have said, ‘It is vain to serve God; and what profit is it that we have kept His charge, and that we have walked in mourning before the LORD of hosts?15‘So now we call the arrogant blessed; not only are the doers of wickedness built up but they also test God and escape.’”
          Romans 14:11 It is written: “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’”

          “How can I be saved?” Ah, dear hearer, I have not to bring a huge volume nor a whole armful of folios to you, and to say, “It will take you months and Years to understand the plan of salvation.” No, the way is plain, the method simple. Thou shalt be saved within the next moment if thou believest. God’s work of salvation is, as far as its commencement and essence is concerned, instantaneous. If thou believes “that Jesus is the Christ, thou art born of God now. If thou dost now stand in spirit at the foot of the cross, and view the incarnate God suffering, bleeding, and dying there, and if as thou dost look at him, thy soul consents to have him for her Savior, and casts herself wholly on him, thou art saved.

    2. Even though he asks for nothing, I do believe that he does deserve something for his actions…as stated in a previous comment, so many people walk pass or record actions when they really need help and did just that, helped when help was NEEDED!!!!!

    3. I love this man! It is so comforting to see that there is people with bravery, selflessness and compassion existing amongst us! He is a true hero!!!

    4. In a world where Evil is running rampant across the land, I extend a big thank you to Mr. Ramsey! Not everyone would have helped. Too often we read where someone was being attacked, etc., and people watch or walk past without providing assistance. Bless you, Mr. Ramsey!
