Boyz II Men has achieved their fair share of success since four high-school friends from Philadelphia hooked up to sing. Discovered by New Edition member Michael Bivins backstage at a concert, they told their big break story in the song “Motownphilly.” Now a trio, Nate Morris, Shawn Stockman and Wayna Morris are are heading to Las Vegas where they will begin a long term residency like George Wallace, Toni Braxton, Celine Dion and others have done.
The four-time Grammy Award winning-group will be in residence at the Mirage Hotel and Casino on the Vegas strip from March 1 through December 29 performing selected weekend dates at the Terry Fator Theater. “We’ve been dreaming of this day since we performed an extended holiday show two years ago in Las Vegas,” Nate said in a statement.
“We’re thrilled to start 2013 with this amazing announcement and want to thank The Mirage and everyone who has made this dream a reality for us. We can’t wait to take the stage in March and be a part of the Las Vegas community.”
Boyz II Men has earned the distinction of being the best-selling R&B group of all time, and their single with Mariah Carey “One Sweet Day,” still holds the “Billboard” record for most weeks at #1. They recently signed a new recording and publishing deal with BMG and expect to release a brand new CD. If you can’t make it to Las Vegas, the Boyz have something else big planned this year. They will take a hiatus from their Vegas shows on May 31 and join New Kids on the Block and 98 Degrees for “The Package” tour which they will remain on through July.
