It may seem contradictory for a woman who sells sex toys to also record a gospel single, but that kind of contrast is par for the course for Real Housewife and singer/songwriter Kandi Burrus. Her single “Stay Prayed Up” has already shot to #1 on the iTunes gospel chart with the help of gospel star Marvin Sapp, who also sings on the track. The Grammy Award winner, entrepreneur, radio host, reality TV star and mother is having a great year thus far. Newly engaged to TV producer Todd Tucker, who appears with her on “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” Burrus has used her popularity on the show to propel herself to even more success.

She owns two Atlanta-based boutiques “TAGS” and “TAGS II” promotes her own iPod/iPad app “Kandi Koated Spades”  hosts the “Ladies Night Male Revue,” and the radio show “Kandi Coated Nights” and sells her adult play toys under the Bedroom Kandi label. It seems staying prayed up is working for Burruss. Listen to “Stay Prayed Up.”

“No mixed signals. The song clearly states that I’m a sinner,” Burruss told Lalate.com. She said the song is for “people who believe in God but [know that] they’re not perfect Christians … The song is my testimony of what I’ve been through and how I deal with things. I think a lot of people will relate.”
