In addition to being a father of two with his long-time girlfriend, Ayanbadejo has spent years as an activist for the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, and transgender community despite the rampant homophobia culture in the NFL.
“I was raised around gay people in a very liberal society,” he told the reporters. “Discrimination was never allowed.”
“I’ve talked to teammates…I’ve talked to people in the Ravens office,”Ayanbadejo added. “We’ve come to the conclusion that if you can play football and you’re a good person, then we don’t care what your orientation is, what your views on social issues are. If you’re a good person and a great football player, then it doesn’t matter.”
