Potential Heisman Trophy winners like Manti Te’o aren’t the only ones getting spoofed online.

Actor Mehcad Brooks told Access Hollywood that he had his own “Catfish” experience with someone on the internet.

When Billy Bush asked him if he was duped by a hot girl, Brooks said his experience went a little differently.

“No, some other stuff, some friendship stuff,” he explained. “It went on for a long time and it was believable… They tried to convince me that they were someone they weren’t for a very long time, to me and my friends.”

Brooks said that he considers himself a pretty smart guy and even though he fell vulnerable to an online hoax.

The “Unnecessary Roughness” actor said he does feel for the Notre Dame standout.

“I don’t think somebody is your girlfriend unless you meet them. I just kind of feel bad for everybody involved,” Brooks said.
