Since everyone’s on a health kick around this time of year, including myself, I thought I’d introduce Juice Week. Each day for a week, I’ll post my favorite juice concoction, complete with the benefits of each ingredient. Before we delve into the first recipe, here are a few tips:

Start with cold fruits and veggies that have been stored in the refrigerator.

Rinse all ingredients before juicing them. Chop large ones into pieces small enough to feed easily into your juicer.

I prefer organic fruits and veggies, but it’s up to you.

Juicers can range in price from $50 to $500. The expensive ones are good and last longer, but some of the cheaper ones get the job done. It all depends on how much you want to spend and how dedicated you are to juicing.

Here it goes:

Candied Juice

(This juice tastes like a Jolly Rancher. It’s really simple.)

3 large apples

1/2 lemon

1 inch of ginger

Slowly feed each ingredient into the juicer. When done juicing all ingredients, pour it back and forth between two cups to mix it completely. Enjoy!

Candied juice health benefits

Apple: prevent diarrhea and constipation, detoxify liver, boost immune system, reduce cholesterol

Lemon: liver cleanser, digestive aid, fight infection and immune booster, good for skin

Ginger: prevent nausea, reduces inflammation, boosts immunity
