Give it to Kevin Hart for coming up with a new concept in reality – the “unreality” show. And give it to BET to see the genius in Hart’s “Real Husbands of Hollywood,” which started out as skits on the BET Awards.

Quickly seeing the comic potential in the skits, which starred real-life Hollywood husbands and boyfriends Nick Cannon, Bobby Brown, Nelly, Jermaine Dupri and Boris Kodjoe, with a cameo by reality star Tami Roman, BET ordered a TV show which Hart says will make fun of the “real” reality shows. Robin Thicke and Duane Martin, along with Cannon, Hart and Kodjoe round out the regular cast.

“I haven’t been this excited about a project of mine in a while, there is nothing like this on television……the levels of funny that will be reached on this show are endless!!!” Hart said in a statement.

“Real Husbands of Hollywood” is part of BET’s new commitment to original programming stemming from the success of “The Game,” “Reed Between the Lines” and “Let’s Stay Together.” Along with “Husbands” this upcoming season, BET launches “Second Generation Wayans” and “Being Mary Jane.” “The Game” is set to return this year as well. Given Hart’s success in the past two years, and its stellar cast, there are high expectations of hilarity for the show.

“We knew after the response to the “Real Husbands” sketches on the BET Awards that we had something special,” said Stephen Hill, BET’s President of Music Programming and Specials. “Look in the dictionary under the word “obvious” and you see a picture of us deciding to turn the sketches into a series.

Kevin Hart leads an incredible cast in this show that turns all of the conventions you hate to love in those wives shows on their collective ear.  We are so proud to be working with this all-star production team. This is the best funny you’ll see on TV this year.”
