Nominees for the 33rd Annual RAZZIE Awards, “honoring” the Worst Achievements in Film for 2012, include the work of filmmaker Tyler Perry and actor Eddie Murphy.
While “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2” led all nominees with 11, and Adam Sandler’s “That’s My Boy” followed with 8 nominations, including Worst Picture and Worst Actor for Sandler himself Eddie Murphy’s “A Thousand Words” was also nominated for Worst Picture, and Tyler Perry (in drag) for Worst Actress in “Madea’s Witness Protection” and Worst Actor for his 2012 non-Madea movies “Good Deeds” and “Alex Cross.”
Also competing for Worst Picture: Rihanna’s box office catastrophe “Battleship” and the lowest-grossing nationwide release of all time, “The Oogieloves In Big Balloon Adventure” (which made a whopping $47 per theatre on its opening night last August).
Facing Perry in the Worst Actress category are Barbra Streisand for “Guilt Trip,” Kristen Stewart for “Twilight,” Katherine Heigl and Milla Jovovich.
Winners will receive a $4.79 gold-spray-painted RAZZIE trophy as a reward for their work.
For nine of this year’s 10 RAZZIE categories, contenders were determined by seeking online votes from 647 G.R.A.F. Members in 47 U.S. states and 18 foreign countries. Nominations for the 10th category, Worst Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel, were determined by votes from 48,000 users at the popular movie review website Rotten Tomatoes.com.
“Winners” in all categories will be announced on the now traditional date of “Oscar Eve,” Saturday, February 23.
