Say goodbye to Diamond and hello to Mildred. This might be the case at your favorite strip club in Texas if a State Rep. is able to get a law passed that will require strippers to wear I.D. cards.
Texas Rep. Bill Zedler, has filed a bill that will force strippers to apply for licenses and wear their identification cards while they perform.
Zedler hopes the initiative will persuade strippers to pick other occupations. He told a reporter, “They won’t want to get a license as a stripper from the state of Texas,” going on to say, “it would keep a lot of girls from getting involved in that lifestyle and basically wrecking their lives.”
The bill will also require women to work at “sexually oriented businesses” to participate in classes about human trafficking.
the strippers would be required to meet certain requirements in order to get the license:
- 18 years & older
- Complete human trafficking course
- No criminal convictions involved with prostitution, public lewdness, sexual assault and obscenity.
As far as where these scantily clad women would wear their I.D. cards, Zedler says, “They could wear it around the neck … or on their shoes … or attached to a head band.”
