Movie executive DeVon Franklin didn’t let his Christian faith keep him from having a successful career in the movie business. In his book, ‘Produced by Faith,” Franklin gives readers a guide to self-development based on the movie-making processs which includes tips from development to distribution.

The Los Angeles based executive, who is also a man of faith, talks about how his difficult past helped him become a more resilient man. His father died when Franklin was just 9 years old, leading him to question how it could happen when his father was making strides in recovering from alcoholism and returning to his family.

Franklin’s path through the movie business was guided by Will Smith and James Lassiter at Overbrook Entertainment. The two men encouraged Franklin to find a new avenue when he outgrew his job as Lassiter’s assistant. Guided by his faith, Franklin quit, landing a new job on the very first day after he left. Now a Senior Vice-President at Sony Pictures, Franklin’s most recent feature was “Jumping the Broom,” produced by T.D. Jakes. Earlier this year, Franklin and actress Meagan Good, who was in the movie, got married.
