At least one basketball wife may have a viable new career. Kenya Bell, a former Miss Michigan and the ex-wife of former NBA player Charlie Bell has signed a recording contract with Bungalo Records for distribution of her C3K Records label. Bungalo has been under the auspices of Universal Music Group for the last 15 years.  Bell has released her first single “Hate Me” produced by Atlanta-based producer Jazze Pha, known for his work with Ciara, Li’l Wayne, Ludacris and T.I., among others.

“I am excited to work with Bungalo Records on this distribution deal and can’t wait for the world to hear my music,” Bell said. “It has been a lifelong dream to record an album and share my passion of singing with the world.”

The “Basketball Wives” star has two daughters with Bell, who she was once accused of attacking with a box cutter. The two have since divorced. “When you and your children are abandoned by someone who you dedicated years of your talents, intelligence, and abilities to in order to help them fulfill their dream, you are a bit devastated to say the least,” Bell writes on her website. “Unfortunately for some, it takes more than you can give in order for them to learn that there are consequences when you don’t do the right thing.”

Bell’s as yet untitled debut is due out next year. “Basketball Wives” fifth season is shooting now and will be back on VH-1 next year.
