A Texas man makes robbing banks a family affair.
Ronald Scott Catt and his two adult children were arrested in connection to robbing several Texas banks as well as possibly five banks in Oregon.
Fort Bend County sheriffs recognized the 50-year-old man and his son 20-year-old son Hayden Scott Catt from a surveillance video. In the video, the two men were dressed in disguise with the younger man wearing a fake mustache and the father wearing a painter’s mask. Both wore orange traffic vets marked with an “X” on the back and were seen pointing small guns and taking cash from the bank’s vault. Police later traced the vest purchase to a nearby Home Depot shortly before an October 1 robbery at the First Community Credit Union in Katy.
Police suspect that 18-year-old Abigail “Abby” Catt drove the getaway car.
Investigators also found the same robbery pattern while following up with a Home Depot about 14 miles north of Katy. Police found stolen license plates taken from the area as well as an area in Harris County.
“While viewing videotapes at the checkout counters, they identified Hayden and Abby Catt purchasing the vests with their father’s debit card,” the Fort Bend County Sherriff’s Office reported. “Ronald Catt was later identified purchasing a painter’s mask.”
Ronald and Hayden were arrested on Nov. 9 in Katy and held on $140,000 bail. Abigail was arrested and taken into custody the following day and is held on $100,000 bond.
Investigators have notified Oregon authorities about the suspects since the family is originally from the state. Detectives “believe the suspects may be connected to five bank robbery cases in the Portland…area.”
