Dear Tom,

My mom is the mother of two daughters – Tiffany and me. She recently retired from the school system where she worked with at-risk kids. She is also an ordained minister at Saint Stevens A.M.E. Church.

Twenty years ago, my brother, Curtis, was hit by a car and died. From that tragedy she went on to create a non-profit organization appropriately named CURT – which is short for Children United to Resist Temptation. They focus on creating positive outlets for young people with the hopes of teaching and showing them how to stop, think and make better choices in every situation.

They have youth conferences and fashion shows and for the past 11 years, CURT has held a prayer walk in our community in memory of my brother.

She does so much – since she is retired, she helps me with my baby but in her spare time, she enjoys singing, dancing, reading the bible and she’s an amateur photographer. She has always wanted to go New York City to see The Lion King on Broadway.

She deserves it for so many more reasons than I can list. Please help me make this happen for my Mom. Thanks!

Signed,
