Weed smokers beware before taking advantage of the new legal marijuana measures.
In addition to Obama’s win, weed smokers in Washington and Colorado celebrated the legalization of marijuana for recreational use.
But state officials are warning potheads that the new measures have a long way to go before they can get away with smoking the drug without criminal consequences.
"Federal law still says marijuana is an illegal drug, so don't break out the Cheetos or Goldfish too quickly," said Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper. The democratic governor was opposed to the new measure.
Under the new approved law, adults over 21 can have up to one ounce of marijuana or six marijuana plants for personal use.
Voters in Massachusetts, Oregon and Arkansas voted against similar measures over the commercial sale and medicinal use of marijuana.
