WASHINGTON (AP) — Elizabeth Warren has unseated Republican Sen. Scott Brown in Massachusetts, giving Democrats their second pickup of the night of a Republican Senate seat.

Democratic Rep. Joe Donnelly also won a seat the GOP had held for decades in Indiana, beating back a challenge from tea party favorite Richard Mourdock.

Republicans have also lost a seat to independent Angus King in Maine, a former Democratic governor whom GOP supporters had targeted for defeat.

Donnelly and Warren's victories increase the chances that Democrats will hold their Senate majority. As of 10:20 p.m., Democrats had locked up 44 seats, Republicans 42, including 67 seats not up for election. Democrats now hold a 53-seat majority, including two independents who align with them.
