HOUSTON (AP) — Texas Southern University has lifted the suspension of its marching band after an internal hazing review led to 19 students sanctioned.

A school spokeswoman said Tuesday that the Ocean of Soul band will be allowed to perform Oct. 27 as TSU hosts Grambling State in football. Eva Pickens also says TSU will not be pursuing criminal charges.

Authorities investigated off-campus paddling by members of the trumpet section.

A university task force on Oct. 9 announced 10 upperclassmen with band scholarships were kicked out of school. Pickens says all can reapply in January but are banned from participating in the band. Nine freshmen band scholarship students were reprimanded.

The TSU review came after a hazing scandal involving the 2011 death of a Florida A&M University band member.
