The replacement NFL referees involved in Monday night’s frenzy are not new to league criticism or reprimand.

Officials from the Lingerie Football League revealed that the refs involved in Monday’s Seattle Seahawks game were fired from their league.

"Due to several on-field occurrences of incompetent officiating, we chose to part ways with a crew which apparently is now officiating in the NFL," said Mitch Mortaza, Lingerie League commissioner. "We have a lot of respect for our officials but we felt the officiating was not in line with our expectations.

"We have not made public comment to date because we felt it was not our place to do so. However in light of tonight's event, we felt it was only fair that NFL fans knew the truth as to who are officiating these games," Mortaza said.

The refs are under fire by the media and football fans across the country after they ruled a controversial play as a touchdown for the Seattle Seahawks. However, the play was later recognized as a blatant foul on the part of Seahawks and a clear interception by the Green Bay Packers.

Mortaza would not indicate if the individual refs fired are in fact the same refs who made the bad call. But, he did provide more details into the actions that eventually cost the refs their jobs.

"It was for everything from not facing the camera when making the call to blatantly missed calls like the one last night," Mortaza explained. "At our level, being in our infancy, we appreciate our credibility and the integrity of the game is on the line," he said. "If we appreciate it, I’m not sure why the NFL can’t appreciate it."

The NFL released a statement on Tuesday affirming that they were standing by their decision to not overturn the touchdown. However, they did admit that the play should have been flagged for Golden Tate’s offensive pass interference.
